Jamaica unveils summer entertainment event line-up

As travelers flock to Jamaica for summer getaways, the island is unveiling an exciting event schedule that promises to showcase the best of its music, culture, and cuisine. This season’s line-up includes the highly anticipated Reggae Sumfest, now in its 31st year.

“With a multitude of authentic and lively events across the whole island, we are expecting another exciting summer showcasing the best of Jamaican culture,” said Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism for Jamaica. “As pioneers in Caribbean tourism, we’re well equipped to welcome both new and returning guests to our beautiful island this summer and beyond, with projections of up to 4.5 million visitors generating $5 billion in revenue by 2025.”

Donovan White, Director of Tourism for Jamaica, added, “In addition to our beautiful beaches, clear blue waters, and friendly community, our steady line-up of events this summer will allow everyone visiting Jamaica the opportunity to find an experience best suited to their needs. Our lively festivals, authentic cultural experiences, unspoiled nature, and tranquil resorts will continue attracting visitors looking to unwind or for the adventure of a lifetime.”

Kicking off the summer season is Montego Bay’s Reggae Sumfest (July 14-20), the largest reggae festival in the Caribbean. This highly anticipated event attracts visitors from around the world and celebrates Jamaica’s musical heritage with performances by top reggae artists, including YG Marley, Capleton, and international superstar Babyface. The festival also features themed parties such as Street Dance, showcasing top DJs and dancehall culture, and Sumfest All White, an immersive celebration featuring throwback musical hits.

Additional summer events

  • July 18, Jamaica Rum Festival: A celebration of Jamaica’s world-renowned rum, featuring tastings of rum made from sugarcane grown in the island’s mineral-rich soil. The festival includes Jamaican cuisine, art, and live music.
  • August 2-5, Portland Paradise Weekend: A four-day extravaganza in one of Jamaica’s natural havens. Events include dancehall-fueled parties like Electric Vybz night, guided nature excursions such as a hike to Nanny Falls, and immersion into Portland’s dining and mixology scene.
  • August 2-6, Dream Wknd: Jamaica’s largest party experience, this week-long festival features live music from top artists and DJs across genres like dancehall, soca, hip hop, and pop.
  • August 2-6, Best Weekend Ever!: Six unique events including a fun-filled brunch, a soca dance fest, and a beach celebration, all curated for the ultimate destination party experience on the white sand shores of Ocho Rios.

With a vibrant schedule of events, Jamaica is set to deliver an unforgettable summer for locals and visitors alike, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
