Emergency meeting cancelled

Published:

An emergency meeting scheduled to be held this evening in the Pine, St. Michael has been cancelled.

It comes amid heightened concerns among residents about a spate of gun violence in the area.

Aggrieved residents tell CBC News the meeting, to be chaired by elders of the community, is a must and will take place before the end of the week.

The shooting incidents in the Pine continued last night around 11:15 p.m.

Investigations indicate five men received gunshot injuries and left the scene for medical attention via private transport.

According to Police reports, they were at a location along Shepton Lane when two men on a motorcycle approached and opened fire.

The injuries ranged from neck, chest, feet, arms and upper and lower torso wounds.

The most seriously injured individuals have been described by medical personnel as in serious but stable condition.

The assailants rode away afterwards.

Investigations are continuing.
